Choosing a Concrete Fountain by Shape, Footprint and Finish

Weathered concrete three tier fountain with pineapple finial in a walled stone courtyard beside a wooden chair

Choose an Outdoor Concrete Water Fountain by Size

Compare the full height, widest bowl or body, and base before choosing a location. For a tiered garden centerpiece, the Heritage three-tier concrete fountain measures 48 inches tall and 30.7 inches across its widest bowl. Leave room around it for splashing, cleaning and reaching the pump. If you are comparing large concrete fountains, check these measurements for each model rather than choosing by height alone.

Concrete or cement, and the words people use

If you have been searching for a cement fountain, a cement water fountain or a concrete water fountain, you have been looking for the same thing. Cement is the powder that binds sand and aggregate together into concrete. The finished piece is concrete, but the two words are used interchangeably in garden shopping and nothing about the product changes with the name.

Our factory-applied water-based painted finishes give different models their individual colors and decorative effects. Follow the selected model’s finish-care instructions.

Classical and modern

Classical designs include tiered bowls, finials, carved relief, lion heads and scalloped rims. Modern designs include spheres, rings, jars and clean-lined forms. Compare the full dimensions and water path of the models you like, rather than assuming one style is taller or easier to move.

Check the selected model’s lighting details and evening images. Light positions and controls vary; contact us if you want to confirm whether its lights can operate separately from the pump.

Weight, delivery and setting it up

Check the selected model’s listed weight, overall dimensions, assembly and delivery information before ordering. Plan a clear delivery route and suitable lifting help or equipment. Use a firm, level base and follow any securing requirements. Do not assume every concrete fountain arrives in manageable sections or stays stable through weight alone.

Follow the model’s pump setup and outdoor electrical instructions. Use an extension cord only if the model’s instructions allow it. If you are unsure, contact us.

Caring for the painted finish

White marks can have different causes. Send us the model name and clear photos so we can advise on cleaning or repairs. For light mineral marks on our water-based painted finish, we recommend gentle cleaning with diluted white vinegar and water, followed by thorough rinsing. Contact us before applying a sealer or repainting; the product must be compatible with the existing finish and any water-contact surfaces.

Winter

Before freezing weather, disconnect the power and drain every bowl, reservoir and water passage. Where practical, store the fountain and pump in a dry, frost-free place. If it remains outdoors, follow its winter-storage instructions and prevent rain or snow from collecting inside. Plan moving and storage from the model’s listed weight and assembly, rather than height alone.
