If your cat likes running water, choose a drinking fountain made for pets. We do not recommend replacing it with one of our decorative tabletop fountains.
Keep the Decorative Fountain Out of Reach
Keep the tabletop fountain where your cat cannot drink from it, knock it over or reach the cord. Do not add fragrance or essential oils to the water. For cleaning the fountain’s painted bowl, use our recommended vinegar-and-water routine and rinse thoroughly.
If your cat is a chewer, make sure the pump cord is tucked behind the furniture or covered with a cord protector. Stop using the fountain if the cord is damaged.
Clean the Bowl Gently
Unplug the fountain and empty the bowl. For routine cleaning of our painted basin, we recommend one part white vinegar and nine parts water. Wipe gently with a soft cloth or brush, then rinse thoroughly.
See our tabletop fountain care guide for water choice, additives and pump checks.
Choose the Material for Your Space
Our resin and ceramic fountain comparison covers decorative fountain materials. A decorative material choice does not turn the fountain into a pet drinking bowl.
