We do not recommend using our decorative outdoor fountains as dog drinking bowls. Provide fresh water in a clean pet bowl or a drinking fountain designed for dogs.
Moving Water Is Not Drinking Water
An outdoor fountain can collect dirt, droppings and other contamination. Circulation does not make the water suitable for your dog to drink.
Check the Water Level and Base
A large reservoir still needs regular water-level checks. A heavy fountain still needs firm, level support and correct assembly. Keep dogs from jumping on the bowls, leaning against the fountain or chewing its cord. Choose the fountain for your garden, rather than as a way to raise your dogβs drinking water.
If you are comparing tiered fountains, check the dimensions, support and assembly requirements of the model you prefer.
Keep Cords Out of Reach
Keep cords out of reach and stop using the fountain if a cord is damaged. For outdoor use, use a suitable GFCI-protected outlet. Unplug the fountain before cleaning or adjusting the pump.
Routine Cleaning

For routine cleaning of our painted basin, we recommend one part white vinegar and nine parts water. Wipe gently with a soft cloth or brush, then rinse thoroughly. Do not add bleach tablets or household cleaners to the operating water.
See our outdoor fountain cleaning guide. Keep your dogβs drinking water in a separate clean bowl.
