The Water Comes Out of the Crack, Not the Top
Every other piece in the range sends water over an edge. This one sends it out of a wound. The break is sculpted into the body, the torn edges catch a pale metallic light, and the water arrives from inside the vessel as though it were leaking rather than pouring. It reads as a jar that failed and kept working.
The glaze runs blue green with fine horizontal banding around the body, which is what stops the shape from looking like a plain pot. From a few steps back you read the color and the curve. Close up you read the banding and the torn edge.
Then there is the light. It sits inside the crack rather than on the piece, so after dark the fissure glows from within and the rest of the jar goes to silhouette. That is the reason to own this one, and it is worth looking at a photograph of it lit before you decide, because the effect is the product.
