When you buy a bird bath, you probably look at the style and the price. But have you ever asked: βIs this safe?β
Check the placement, finish, and care requirements of the model you are considering.
1. Stable Placement
Place the bird bath on firm, level ground and check that the bowl and base are fitted correctly. Do not allow children to climb on or hang from it, and avoid locations where pets may knock into it. Material and weight alone do not guarantee that a bath cannot tip over. If you are unsure about setup, contact us.
2. Finish and Routine Cleaning
We apply environmentally friendly water-based paint to our bird baths before they leave the factory. For routine cleaning, we recommend one part white vinegar mixed with nine parts water, a soft brush or cloth, and a thorough rinse before refilling. If the finish is damaged, contact us before applying another coating.
3. Winter Care
Before freezing weather, empty the basin, let it dry, and move it to a sheltered, frost-free place. Do not leave water to freeze inside the bowl. A strength or load test does not by itself establish frost resistance. Service life depends on use and care.
4. Understanding Product Testing Information
Any testing claim should identify the tested model, report number, test method, and result. A report for one test or model does not establish every safety property across the collection. If you want to check testing information for a particular model, contact us.
5. Water Depth and Daily Checks
Choose a basin with a secure place for birds to stand and an accessible shallow area. Check the actual usable bowl depth and rim height rather than relying on the productβs overall height. Our bird bath size guide explains how to compare these measurements.
